This module will enable you to further develop your knowledge and skills in a clinical practice setting relating to your field of nursing, managing more complex health needs and the care of a group of people. Prioritising health needs, and recognising opportunities for health promotion, you will be supported by a practice supervisor and academic assessor and will be assessed in practice by a practice assessor.
Aims
to: develop your knowledge skills and professionalism in clinical nursing practice, within your field of nursing. Learn and practice clinical skills in a simulated environment and apply in practice settings. Develop critical reflective practice skills to aid integration of theory and practice learning

Intended Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate safe, effective, compassionate, evidence-based nursing practice in simulated and clinical settings in accordance with the current NMC Code (2018) through successful completion of selected practice proficiencies within the Year 1 practice assessment document, and including first aid procedures and basic life support: 1Demonstrate appropriate, professional interpersonal skills in simulated and clinical practice settings using a range of strategies with colleagues and people at different stages of life with a range of mental, physical, cognitive and behavioural health challenges: 1Apply effective, defined knowledge, skills and behaviours to provide person-centred care for a person with complex needs, or for a small group of people in a specific episode of care, including undertaking a `whole person assessment¿, synthesis of evidence-based practice, recognition of health lifestyle choices, and assessment and management of risk : 2,3Critically reflect on development of personal leadership qualities and team working skills in their own field of nursing practice.: 2,3Review the structures and functions of the human body and relate these to commonly encountered mental, physical, behavioural and cognitive health conditions, medication usage and therapeutic interventions: 1
Breakdown of active learning hoursIn situ- 18hrs / 18hrs synchronous (Lectures, discussion, seminars, tutorials, workshops, assessment preparation and simulation)Asynchronous- 24hrs (Guided independent study including preparation for scheduled sessions, follow up work)Placement hours 450hrsIndependent study- 90hrs (Wider reading, revision, assessment preparation)Due to the dynamic nature of nursing programmes, the above breakdown may be subject to alteration
Students need to have successfully completed RPL part one of the Nursing programme before commencing this module.
