Description for 2023/24

This module takes a blended learning approach and students will explore topics and factors that impact on the quality in healthcare delivery to improve overall healthcare for users of service and their families.

Aims
To develop your critical understanding of factors that impact on quality in healthcare delivery to improve healthcare outcomes and practice

Intended Learning Outcomes

Critically appraise existing healthcare policy, quality measures and assessment influencing healthcare delivery outcomes: 1
Critically explore the underlying causes of adverse events in healthcare practice: 1
Synthesise the nature and solutions required to reduce harm and enhance outcomes in healthcare setting: 1
Critically discuss the role of stakeholders in influencing quality outcomes: 1

Study hours

30 hours -lecturers (recorded), workshops, seminars (in-situ and online) discussion boards, Online drop in assessment preparation cafes.
120 hours independent study including reading and private study, assessment preparation and writing

Description of Module Assessment

1: Report weighted 100%
2500 word report
A structured report detailing a proposed or completed quality improvement initiative within the student's area of practice. The report will include an evaluation of the background issues, methodology and implications for practice (2500 words excluding executive summary and appendices).
