Description for 2024/25

The Introduction to Evidence-Based Practice and Research module will afford you a developing knowledge and understanding of the research process and the role of evidence-based practice applicable to healthcare and paramedic practice. The role of research in healthcare and the health professions will be explored, including terminology, research methodologies, and the development of literature searching skills, including the ability to critically appraise the evidence. The ethical frameworks and implications for healthcare research will also be explored with the support of expert researchers and educators delivering the module content.

Aims
The module aims to provide students with the knowledge and critical understanding of evidence-based practice in paramedicine and the underpinning theories of the research process, research methodologies and critiquing frameworks. The module provides a platform for further studies in research as students progress through the MSci Paramedic Science programme.
