Description for 2024/25

This is an optional module on the Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education (distance learning) programme. The module will support the learner in developing as a clinical teacher through reflection. The learner will be required to undertake a number of reflective activities during the module, and provide a written commentary on their personal development.

This module aims to support learners in their development as clinical teachers through reflection. Learners will explore the foundations and theoretical underpinnings of reflection before utilising various reflective frameworks to structure their reflective writing. Learners will use peer feedback, student feedback, and theory to inform their reflective accounts.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Justify reflective practice as a method for developing as a clinical teacher: 3
Critically evaluate their own teaching including use of feedback from learners and peers to develop appropriate approaches, use of technologies, methods and theory: 2,3

Study hours

This module will be delivered as a distance learning module therefore the total required hours will be 150 independent study hours as they work through the module content and learner activities.
