Description for 2024/25

This is an optional core module on the Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education (distance learning) programme.
The module aim is to support the student in becoming an effective and innovative educational leader within clinical education. It will develop reflective educational leaders who are aware of their strengths, limitations/challenges and who are able to proactively develop clinical education. It will support students in their journey to becoming senior clinical educational leaders. Developing educational leaders that encourage the creation of a pedagogical culture where educational issues and learning is central.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Critically reflect on the impact of effective leadership and management within health professional education

Evaluate both the macro and micro issues in educational leadership and the impact they have in a dynamic healthcare system: 1
Appraise their own qualities, skills, strengths and challenges demonstrating deep levels of self-awareness and critical application to their own educational leadership role: 1

Identify and explore the impact educational leaders have on teams and the challenges in managing any conflict within those teams: 1

Study hours

This module will be delivered as a distance learning module therefore the total required hours will be 150 independent study hours as they work through the module content and learner activities.
