Description for 2024/25

Education supervision is a requirement by professional regulatory bodies and the Department of Health to provide guidance and feedback on matters of professional and educational development in the context of a trainee¿s experience of providing safe and appropriate patient care. This module allows the learners to gain the knowledge and skills that are essential to become effective educational supervisors.

Aims
The module aims to:
- Enhance the learners¿ knowledge and skills on educational supervision in a range of clinical and educational contexts
- Enhance the learners¿ feedback skills by exploring different feedback models from literature and using different methods to support those skills

Intended Learning Outcomes

Critically evaluate the role of the educational supervisor in guiding, supporting and monitoring educational progress of training using relevant theories and models

This module will be delivered as a distance learning module therefore the total required hours will be independent study hours as they work through the module content and learner activities.
Orientation and reading in preparation for the module: 10 hours
