This module forms part of the postgraduate certificate in clinical education. It is designed to complement the UK professional skills framework (UKPSF) and aligns with the knowledge domains. This module is designed to introduce individuals to the foundations of good assessment practice applicable to a range of healthcare settings and roles. Individuals will gain a theoretical understanding on best practice in assessment and will be introduced to a variety of assessment strategies to implement in their workplaces. It allows students to develop feedback strategies to assessment. The module further develops assessment strategies by introducing the amalgamation of assessments to allow progression decisions within their health profession. The module will focus on critically appraising assessment methods and amalgamation of assessment strategies to allow students to improve assessment practices within their practice and at an institutional level. The module will be taught through a mix of didactic teaching, group work, workshop-based activities, discussion and questioning.
Aims
The module aims to provide students with a theoretical understanding of good practice in assessment and allows students to critically appraise and develop assessment practices within a clinical education programme.
