Description for 2024/25

This module will form the structure for an advancing practice project for the final year of the MSci Paramedic Science. This module is specifically structured to take into account a number of factors affecting service delivery and service improvement to embody an emphasis on the student to identify, plan and propose delivery and reflect upon a service improvement (advancement) project.
The module is grounded in professional practice and will offer the student the opportunity to negotiate, design, consider theoretical implementation and evaluation of the effectiveness of the improvement. This will inform the development of professional practice, significantly contribute to service enhancement and contribute to the individual's own continuing professional development.
The specific focus of the project will be negotiated with the student according to their professional interests and preferred areas of practice. The project focus may include staff, or student education, the redesign of a system or process, or the proposed introduction of new working practices and treatments. The project promotes an opportunity for the student to demonstrate critical and creative thinking through their approach to practice-based initiatives.
The module will be underpinned by the work-based learning philosophy, which will be incorporated as a stimulating and challenging approach. This module will draw together the professional learning that has occurred during the second, third and fourth year of the MSci Paramedic Science.

Aims
This level 7 Advancing Practice Project will facilitate students understanding of the philosophical and methodological bases of health care enquiry. Students will demonstrate their ability to independently undertake an in-depth service improvement project.
