Description for 2024/25

This module has been designed to develop leadership knowledge, skills, qualities and behaviours for student paramedics and seeks to develop, nurture and enhance existing team working skills and clinical leadership requirements. Leadership theories and models are appraised and applied to the clinician's work context, with the aim of improving their leadership potential and abilities to lead and deliver high-quality health care in their field of practice, with a focus on the service user experience.

Aims
To demonstrate a critical appreciation of the evidence base supporting effective clinical leadership in paramedic practice;
To examine how effective leadership can influence paramedic service provision;
To develop the student's own leadership skills.

Study hours

A blended learning strategy of:
15 hrs face-to-face teaching (13 hours lecturer contact teaching and learning, and assessment, and 2 hours tutorial)
10 hours group work
50 hrs directed study related to module content
75 hrs self-directed study and assessment preparation

Description of Module Assessment

1: Reflective Analysis weighted 70%
2500-word written assignment


2: Presentation weighted 30%
25 minute presentation (including 5 minutes for questions)
