The module -Biotechnology & Omics provides students a platform for bridging basic understanding in molecular techniques or data science to advanced biotechnology and multi-omic methods. The exposure to current trends and training in the module provide students with advanced understanding and skills to apply their knowledge in future for precision medicine, a trend in pharmaceutical, biomedical and healthcare fields.
Aims
The module aims to build student's knowledge and skills in advanced biotechniques or molecular data science for translating to personalized medicine, drawing on the latest advances in the field.
Intended Learning Outcomes
To evaluate and critically appraise the various biotechnological approaches for gene and cell engineering.: 1,2To appraise the principles and applications of multi-omics approaches.: 2To evaluate the advantages and limitations of multi-omics approaches through case studies.: 2To demonstrate analytical and practical skills in advanced biotechnology and omics methods.: 1,2

Bachelors degree (or equivalent proof of training) in an approved discipline with some basic molecular or data science experience.
