BA International Relations with International Year, dual honours only
This module allows students to complete a year of study related to their degree programme in an approved institution in another country. Such study may include components relating to the learning or further development of a foreign language and cultural engagement, in addition to the study of the student¿s principal subjects in an international context. The topics that students will study will be appropriate to Level 5 or higher and agreed between the student and his/her School¿s Study Abroad Coordinator prior to the start of the international year. Dual Honours students shall be registered on two "International Study Modules", one for each of their principal subjects.
Aims
The aims of this module are to:1. allow the student to experience study in another country;2. enable students to acquire an international perspective on their principal subject, and to build up a wide network of contacts;3. enable students to appreciate the added value that arises from first-hand experience of the different academic and research approaches between the UK and other countries.

Students are overseas on a study abroad year at an approved institution in another country. Their studies are split between directed study and non-directed private study at the international partner institution.
Description of Module Assessment
1: Coursework weighted 0%Individual learning agreementIn conjunction with the School¿s Study Abroad Coordinator, students will determine a programme of study for their international year.
2: Coursework weighted 50%Study Abroad assessmentsTo undertake and successfully complete courses of study to the equivalent of 60 credits at an international partner institution.
3: Portfolio weighted 50%Reflective PortfolioStudents will compile a portfolio, reflecting on their experiences studying at an international partner institution. Dual Hnours students complete one portfolio which must cover both of their principal subjects. (Equivalent to 3,000 words)
