Description for 2024/25

This module will introduce you to various different professions within Psychology, for example, clinical, counselling, forensic, business, sports, as well as how psychology is applied in these professions. You will also be taught about the history of psychology professions, the British Psychological Society, and development of professional ethics. You will gain a clearer understanding of the different professional psychology roles and will be encouraged to engage with and reflect on your existing and required skills for a career in psychology.

Aims
This module will introduce you to various different professions within Psychology, including clinical, counselling, forensic, business, sports, etc. as well as how psychology is applied in these contexts. It will also provide an overview of the history of the Psychology professions, British Psychology Society, and development of professional ethics. It will also introduce some essential psychology skills used in professional psychology, such as holistic self-care, motivation, protectors of mental health, as well as providing cultural contexts to these areas.
