The module brings together the concepts of health promotion, primary and secondary prevention and health behaviour change, and provides a context for the study of prosthetic and orthotic rehabilitation. Students explore the factors which affect health and wellbeing and also the theories, models and principles which underlie health behaviour change. Health promotion strategies are evaluated.
Aims
This module aims to deepen the student understanding of health promotion, primary and secondary prevention, and health behaviour change, to provide a context for the study of rehabilitation and to equip the student with the knowledge and skills to analyse health promotion strategies in the context of behaviour change theories, models and principles.
