This module forms part of the MSc Prosthetics and Orthotics programme at Keele which is an innovative programme of study which prepares the graduate for clinical practice in changing health and social care settings. The Research Proposal module allows students the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in designing and justifying a comprehensive plan for a research project under the guidance of a supervisor.
Aims
To develop students' knowledge and skills in:identifying and formulating a research design to answer a specific research question, including methods of data/information collection and analysis;presenting a scientifically and/or clinically coherent justification for a proposed research project;evaluating the ethical requirements of a proposed research project.
Intended Learning Outcomes
Design a framework of reference (such as a rationale based on published literature) to support the relevance of a proposed research question, critical thinking and high levels of concise written communication.: 1Select and present appropriate and comprehensive methods of gathering data or information that are coherent with the research question.: 1Examine evidence of selecting an appropriate method of analysis that is coherent with a proposed research question and design.: 1Critically recognise the ethical implications, evaluate risk and propose risk management strategies specific to the proposed research project.: 1Judiciously select appropriate potential dissemination strategies for the proposed research.: 1
