Aims
To further develop the student's research skills to design, execute and report on a research project. To develop research skills to promote the student¿s ability to independently conduct research and be able to commission, manage and evaluate the research activities of others.
Intended Learning Outcomes
Select, extract, compare and critically evaluate relevant evidence related to a specific research question.: 1Critically support intellectual rigour in the organisation, manipulation, analysis, interpretation and presentation of data that is coherent with a specific research question.: 1Summarise, compare, contrast and synthesize research findings in a research report.: 1Write a report of appropriate style, organisation and structure, which is communicated to a high level of written English which displays evidence of critical thinking, independence of thought and an understanding of advanced concepts and methods related to research.: 1Independently lead the research project to completion (incorporating advanced organisational, time management, communication, collaborative working and IT skills).: 1

PTY-40094 Research Proposal (P&O) is a prerequisite.
Description of Module Assessment
1: Research Report weighted 100%A report of up to 4500 words (including a structured abstract of up to 250 words)The final report is developed from the research proposal submitted at the end of the previous Research Proposal module. Students will be permitted to use the information submitted within the proposal to inform their final report.
The assessment comprises a 15% component evaluating student engagement and independence; proactivity, communication and acting on feedback throughout the research process. The further 85% component evaluates the content and presentation of the report.
The 4500 word limit (includes a structured abstract - up to 250 words) requires the student to demonstrate accurate and concise writing, whilst maintaining depth of content. This reflects the expectations for journal papers and industry in the sector.
