This module forms part of the MSci Physiotherapy programme at Keele which is an innovative programme of study which prepares the graduate for clinical practice in changing health and social care settings.The Practice Experience 4b module builds on content introduced in Year 1-3 of the MSci Physiotherapy programme and enables the student through physiotherapy practice experience to further develop and apply knowledge and skills in both assessment and therapeutic techniques.Students will have the opportunity to integrate enhanced knowledge and skills from campus based modules into clinical practice and reflect on aspects of their clinical reasoning and management via case studies or a presentation.The module aims to prepare the student to work in diverse healthcare settings whilst also developing transferable skills (i.e enhanced clinical reasoning, leadership and advanced communication) that can be applied in a variety of healthcare settings and specialties.
Aims
This module aims to enable the student to develop and critically reflect upon their personal development and learning needs, to provide the student with an opportunity to adapt and critically reflect on their interpersonal skills in a placement setting and with the support of practice educators, the student will develop and justify physiotherapy knowledge, decision-making and implementation abilities in a placement setting.
Intended Learning Outcomes

19 hours Scheduled Teaching, including:- 7 hours placement debrief (synchronous lecture)- 10 hour of lectures- 1 hours of tutorial- 1 hours of assessment preparation17 hours of independent study including:11 hours independent study - 6 hours assessment preparation150 hours placement hours There is a requirement that students will undertake directed independent study in preparation for the placement and an expectation to undertake self-directed independent study throughout the duration of the placement, length of which will depend on individual need.
