Description for 2024/25

The aims of the module are to identify and explore the application of plain film imaging of the skeleton within the context of trauma management. Mobile radiography, fluoroscopic examinations and interventional radiography will be explored. The module content consists of these modalities and the radiographic skills needed to perform in these modalities to the standard of a band 5 radiographer.

Aims
The aims of the module are to identify and explore the application of imaging within the context of trauma management and the management of more complex patients. Trauma imaging, mobile radiography, theatre radiography, interventional radiography, fluoroscopy and radionuclide imaging will be explored including the impact on the service user undergoing these examinations.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Evaluate the role of the radiographer within a multidisciplinary team while undertaking trauma imaging, mobile radiography, theatre radiography, interventional radiography, fluoroscopy and radionuclide imaging: 1
Discuss a range of techniques required in trauma imaging, mobile radiography, theatre radiography, interventional radiography, fluoroscopy and radionuclide imagings and their appropriate application: 1
Demonstrate attention to the needs of service users and work safely in trauma imaging, mobile radiography, theatre radiography, interventional radiography, fluoroscopy and radionuclide imaging: 1
Demonstrate an understanding of radiation safety and apply these principles to trauma imaging, mobile radiography, theatre radiography, interventional radiography, fluoroscopy and radio-nuclide imaging: 1
Understand and apply the importance of quality assurance to imaging and technique: 1
