Aims
The aims of the module are to identify and explore the application of imaging within the context of trauma management and the management of more complex patients. Trauma imaging, mobile radiography, theatre radiography, interventional radiography, fluoroscopy and radionuclide imaging will be explored including the impact on the service user undergoing these examinations.
Intended Learning Outcomes
Evaluate the role of the radiographer within a multidisciplinary team while undertaking trauma imaging, mobile radiography, theatre radiography, interventional radiography, fluoroscopy and radionuclide imaging: 1Discuss the range of techniques required in mobile and fluoroscopic procedures and their appropriate application: 1Undertake a range of radiographic examinations requiring adaptation of technique and supplementary projections, under appropriate supervision for radiation safety purposes: 1Demonstrate attention to the needs of service users and work safely in trauma, mobile and fluoroscopic examinations: 1Demonstrate an understanding of radiation safety and apply these principles to trauma imaging, mobile radiography, theatre radiography, interventional radiography, fluoroscopy and radio-nuclide imaging: 1Understand and apply the importance of quality assurance to imaging and technique: 1
~40 hours face to face/ online teaching~5 hours practical sessions~105 hours independent study including 25 hours prep and completion of assessment, 10 hours prep for practical sessions, 20 hours directed reading/study and 50 hours self directed study.
Description of Module Assessment
1: Oral Presentation weighted 100%Poster and oral presentationConference style poster (A3 sized) with a 10 minute presentation on a topic under the radiation safety umbrella of their choice. 5 minutes of questions at the end by peers and examiners
