Description for 2024/25

This is the final 100 day practice module the practice opportunities are in accordance with the work of the agency, and which develops the student to undertaking work autonomously within the agency setting. Opportunities and content will vary between placement settings, but for final placement must include the opportunity to undertake statutory tasks in line with the Practice Placement Guidance drawn up by Social Work England. This includes opportunity to experience working within legal frameworks, working within a multi-agency context and working with more complex situations involving ¿high-risk decision making¿

Aims
This is a mandatory final practice module. Practice Opportunities in accordance with the work of the agency, building to student undertaking some work autonomously within the agency setting and demonstrating an ability to manage increasingly complex situations and to work with a range of stakeholders in a partnership approach.

Intended Learning Outcomes

demonstrate capability against all nine domains of the PCF at Qualifying Level and meet the requirements of Social Work England in respect of practice learning: 1
demonstrate capability in applying social work skills, theories and methods with a range of service user groups: 1
demonstrate the ability to undertake a range of statutory tasks and social work interventions (with support), evidencing the capacity to work effectively with more complex situations, including high-risk decision making: 1
demonstrate ability to work with appropriate autonomy, whilst recognising that final decisions will often rest with their supervisor or other senior decision maker: 1
demonstrate ongoing Fitness to Practise/Suitability for Practice in accordance with professional and university regulations, work towards Social Work England's professional standards and adhere to the British Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics: 1
Demonstrate an ability to work effectively in partnership with service users, carers and other organisations as appropriate, identifying opportunities and challenges of such approaches: 1

Study hours

Placement for 100 days is equivalent to around 750 hours.
In situ: 12 hours for tutorial group meetings and 15 for recall days = 27 hours
Remote, asynchronous:
Independent study: 35 hours of prep for tutor groups and assignment preparation.

Description of Module Assessment

1: Portfolio weighted 100%
Professional Portfolio
This is a mandatory final practice module. Practice Opportunities in accordance with the work of the agency, building to student undertaking some work autonomously within the agency setting. Portfolio to be submitted will comprise of: Learning Plan, (student/ PE to complete) Outline of agency setting (500 words) Account of work examples (1000-1200 words) Reflection on Service User Feedback (500 words) Two Critical Reflections (1250 words x 2) Reflection on Student Learning (500 words) Three Direct Observations (3x 1000 words) (Student / PE to complete) Reports from Practice Educator and Onsite Supervisor (where applicable), to verify students¿ capability against the 9 domains of the PCF, qualifying level.
