Description for 2024/25

This module provides a learner-centred, supportive space for students to continue developing the professional competences defined within the RCVS Day One Competency Framework, and evidence their attainment of these competences (or components thereof).
The module is aligned to all the third-year credit-bearing modules in the veterinary programme, providing a platform for low-stake, developmental observations and interactions to ensure all students meet minimum required thresholds of competency, and can further profile their own competency development.

School Rules

Minimum thresholds of competency attainment within this module will be evaluated using the CF rules issued under the Harper and Keele Vet School assessment regulations, where students will be given a maximum of 5 attempts to evidence the minimum threshold requirement defined for each component of the module portfolios.
Direct observations of core competences or component skills will occur during the academic year. For students who are not able to initially evidence minimum thresholds, further remediation and repeat evaluation will take place in line with the summer assessment period, or where appropriate, carried forward to the next academic year. All competency portfolio requirements must be successfully completed before the student can move to part 5 of the programme.
