The Laboratory

The group has expertise in the analysis, isolation and synthesis of natural products from insects and plants.

The Laboratory is equipped with gas- chromatography - mass spectrometers (GC-MS, Agilent 7890N with 5975 MSD and a 6890N GC with 5973 MSD), capable of both Electron Ionisation and Chemical Ionisation.

In addition there is an ABI365 triple quad MS coupled to a Waters HPLC. There are several HPLC instruments which have both UV and evaporative Light Scattering Detectors.

For synthesis there is modern inert atmosphere equipment and vacuum lines for synthesis housed in newly refurbished laboratories.

This is supported by departmental Ion Trap GC/MS, FT-IR and 300MHz NMR facilities.
