Having small tutorial groups to compliment studies has been excellent for group participation and feedback on work. Lecturers have plenty of time for you, and are very happy to spend their office hours seeing students about improving their studies, or career advice which is very beneficial.

I would definitely advise taking a placement year like I did to enhance your CV and gain vital experience. I did my placement at the Office for National Statistics (ONS) as part of the Government Economic Service, and I had opportunities to do a wide variety of work that built both my technical and soft skills. I gained a variety of experience in economic analysis of statistical bulletins, writing reports on GDP deflators, problem solving in research projects, and many others. I firmly believe that taking a placement year was one of the best decisions I have ever made, and had some of the most enjoyable experiences in my life.
