Keele ranked in Global Top 100 for impact
Keele University has placed firmly in the Top 100 out of more than 1,000 leading universities worldwide in a prestigious global league table that ranks universities’ global impact.
The Times Higher Education Global Impact Rankings assess universities on their work to uphold and promote each of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including clean energy, climate action and sustainable cities and communities.
Keele has retained its position in the Top 100 for the 2021 rankings, placing 98th in the world overall, cementing its commitment to the United Nations SDGs.
The University has also ranked 5th in the world for its performance against the Reduced Inequalities SDG, which looks at institutions’ research on social inequalities, their policies on discrimination and their commitment to recruiting staff and students from under-represented groups.
This year’s league table featured 1,115 leading universities from across the world, and Keele’s strong performance highlights the University’s commitment to sustainability and embedding it across all aspects of its operations.
The SDGs also guide the work and research within Keele's Institute for Sustainable Futures, which seeks to apply sustainable solutions to the biggest challenges facing society today.
Professor Mark Ormerod, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost, and Institutional Lead for Sustainability said: “I’m delighted by Keele University’s excellent performance in this year’s THE Global Impact Rankings. These prestigious global league tables rank universities on their social and economic impact against the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
“Our outstanding performance reflects Keele’s commitment to sustainability and confirms our internationally leading profile and reputation for sustainability and the success of our whole-institution approach to sustainability, specifically using the UN’s SDG to embed sustainability in all aspects of our operations.”
