Title: ‘The Internet Generation: New Undergraduate Student Use of Social Media in their Transition to University’
My doctoral thesis aims to investigate the ways in which new undergraduate university students make use of social media to enable friendship maintenance and formation and consequently manage their transition from their home environment to their new university environment. In this respect the central objective of my research is to study the use of social media in enabling transitions from adolescence to young adulthood at university.
This project is supervised by Dr Mark Featherstone and Dr Siobhan Holohan.
