Biography
I received my undergraduate degree from Goldsmiths, University of London and my Masters and PhD from the University of York in Early Modern History. I joined Keele in 2022 after an Early Career Research Fellowship at the John Rylands Research Institute, University of Manchester. I have previously taught at the Universities of Sheffield, York, Lincoln, and Teesside.
Research and scholarship
I am an economic and social historian interested in all aspects of the credit-based economy of the early modern period. My previous research has explored how cases involving bankruptcy were litigated in the court of Chancery during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. I am currently conducting research on the moral aspects of failure, and the broader multifaceted nature of debt-recovery in early modern society.
