Biography

As an undergraduate, Ceri studied English Literature at the University of Worcester (2013-2016), followed by an MRes in Early Modern Studies (2016-2017) under the supervision of Dr Andreas Mueller and Dr Sharon Young. Both her undergraduate and Masters dissertations explored issues surrounding sexuality, identity, and the body in Restoration literature, with a particular focus on masculinity and sexual deviance. In 2020, she embarked on a PhD at Keele under the supervision of Dr Rachel Adcock (lead supervisor), Professor Susan Bruce, and Dr Siobhan Talbott. Alongside her current research, Ceri also works as a freelance writer and as a library assistant.

Research and scholarship

Ceri's current research project is interdisciplinary, exploring representations of venereal disease and national identity in Restoration poetry, drama, travel writing, and medical literature. Broadly, her wider research interests concern the following themes in early modern literature: states of health, disease, disability, the body, sexuality, identity, gender, and queerness.
