Biography
Robert Garson obtained his bachelor's degree in History from the University of Sussex and his doctorate from the London School of Economics.
Research and scholarship
Robert is currently working on the debate surrounding the adoption of the US Dollar in the late eighteenth century. He is on leave to enable him to participate in a collaborative project with the Open University on the global political economy.
Publications
Robert is the author of The Democratic Party and the Politics of Sectionalism, 1941-1948 (1974) and The United States and China: A Troubled Affair (1994). He is co-author, with Chris Bailey, of The Uncertain Power: A Political History of the United States Since 1929 (1990). He has published in such journals as the Journal of American Studies, the South Atlantic Quarterly, the Journal of Contemporary History, and the Review of International Studies.
