Professor Nureddin Ashammakhi
Professor Nureddin Ashammakhi holds research (PhD) and surgical (FRCSEd) qualifications. As Keele's Professor of Regenerative Medicine he was co-author of the Hyanji Scaffold application to EC Framework 7 IRSES programme, and led the project in 2008-9. Previously he was Professor of Biomanterials Technology in Tampere University, Tampere, Finland.
Prof Ashammakhi's research is mainly in musculoskeletal tissue engineering with focus on biodegradable multifunctional materials and composites, especially drug releasing biomimetic nanoscaffolds. His expertise brings together science and its application to medicine in a truly multidisciplinary environment.
Prof Ashammakhi is the editor of the "e-boo" series Topics in Tissue Engineering and associate editor in the Journal of Biomedical Nanotechnology. He is experienced in participation in European projects, eg biocranio, spare parts, expertissues.
