Allied Health Professionals
The Allied Health Professionals Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) group aims to ensure that clinical practice is based on the best available research evidence, increase an evidence-based culture by assisting clinicians to develop critical appraisal skills, foster partnerships between clinicians, researchers, librarians and patients and generates practice-based clinical questions that require further research. This group is also known as the ‘CAT’ group as we utilise a method called ‘Critically Appraised Topics’ in our work.
Patient and Public Involvement
"I was recently invited to attend a CAT group meeting to observe and contribute from a patient and public perspective. My attendance was welcomed by the members as was my input. I listened carefully to the group discussions and gained a clearer understanding of how patient and public involvement could be beneficial. I was able to ask important questions regarding some of the intricacies of certain processes and in return gathered the information necessary to develop an understanding with the patient viewpoint in mind. I found the experience both interesting and informative and of vital importance in the development of patient and public involvement."
