My name is Kamaljeet Kaur, I am a Nursing Associate Apprentice at Keele University, I work for Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust at New Cross Hospital at Children's ward. I was working as a healthcare assistant, I had the science qualification already from back home.
I just love it, my ward and the parents and some of the children are our regular patients. They are like family to us.

That's the amazing reward for us when they go back and they're healthy and smiling. The apprenticeship has equipped me with all the skills and knowledge, It has enhanced my clinical skills. I really enjoyed the lessons, whether it was the practical sessions, whether we were coming on CEC I went on different placement and different wards within the hospital and outside the hospital and everyone was amazing.

The confidence I have gained, professionally, I can go to any parent so I can speak to them, I can explain the procedure, what is happening, what they can expect. Like I feel very valued member of staff going back to my base.

During this journey, I lost three family members and I was at breaking point. My tutor, she has given me tremendous support, she lifted me from there.
