Hello, my name is CLA Holdsworth, and I'm the director of the Sustainable Rural Futures Levy Doctoral Scholarships Program, or SURF for short. In this short video, I'm going to show you how to apply for one of our scholarships using the online My Keele application form.
To access this form, you need to click on the "Apply" button on the SURF website. The first step is to set up an account. Once you've done that, you can log in to the My Keele application. The application form consists of nine sections.
The first section asks for personal details, and I won't go through those questions here. Let's move on to the second page, which asks questions about the course. If you've come to the My Keele application directly from the SURF website, the top area will be greyed out, and the program should say "Levy Scholarship" for your mode of attendance. These scholarships are primarily offered as full-time, but if you're interested in part-time options, please contact us at SURF before making your application. The start date for the Levy Scholarships is October 2024, but if you prefer a later start date, you can select that option.
In the third section, you'll provide details about your qualifications, including any English language qualifications if relevant. You'll need to upload evidence of your qualifications, such as certificates or transcripts.
The fourth section asks for relevant employment history. You can also upload your CV here, especially if you want to highlight relevant experience for your chosen topic.
For the research proposal section, you'll need to download the application form from the SURF website. There are two application forms available—one if you're applying for an advertised SURF project and another if you're applying for a scholarship for your own project. Complete the relevant form and upload it in this section.
In the finance section, indicate that your studies will be financed by a scholarship, and for the scholarship name, simply write "Levy."
You'll then provide contact details for two referees. Finally, there are questions about how you found out about Keele and whether you've been in contact with a potential academic supervisor. It's encouraged to contact the principal supervisor for any SURF project you're interested in before making your application.
If you need to upload any additional documents, you can do so in the designated section. Finally, make your declaration and submit your application.
Thank you for considering the SURF program. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
