Tracy Clewlow

Biography

I joined Keele Business School in November 2016 as a Senior Teaching Fellow in the discipline of accounting. I have worked in the education sector since 2005 having delivered the syllabi for professional bodies such as ACCA, CIMA and AAT as well as for further and higher education institutions. Prior to teaching I held a series of progressive accounting roles mainly within the manufacturing sector, I was the Financial Controller for a multinational electronics manufacturer, finance manager for a telecommunications company and a financial controller for a traditional pottery manufacturer.

As well as core accounting roles I have also worked in many niche markets such as European Treasurer for a multi-national organisation (ICL) where I was part of a team preparing and facilitating a company through IPO (initial public offering). I have undertaken challenging roles such as business acquisitions and factory closures, both in the UK and overseas. 

The years of working as an accountant greatly informs and supports my teaching and ensures I provide a balance of academic and vocational content in my subject delivery.  I am a qualified CIMA accountant (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), and am regularly involved with developments and events with my professional body.

Research and scholarship

I have research interests within contemporary issues in accounting, this includes environmental management accounting (EMA) particularly its lack of regulation and underutilisation within small businesses.

I am also very interested in the provision of education and knowledge in environmental accounting and how accounting as a profession can support business in achieving its sustainability targets.

Teaching

As a member of the accounting teaching team here at Keele I am currently teaching cost and management accounting, management accounting and advanced management accounting (at various levels), I also deliver performance evaluation with Bloomberg to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

I have many teaching interests embedded in both core accounting skill areas and also more contemporary areas such as integrated reporting, environment accounting, accounting for sustainability and green accounting.
