Cheryl Dunleavy
Cheryl has over 20 years of experience in various professional and academic roles across the Higer Education sector. Within KIITE at Keele, Cheryl leads the Learning Experience Design (LXD) team who work collaboratively with the academic and professional services community across the University to enhance learning, teaching, and assessment, focused on co-creating inclusive, active, authentic, and accessible learning experiences.
Cheryl is interested in developing attributes of staff and students to succeed in a changing global and digital world, focused on personal effectiveness, cultural proficiency, social engagement, and digital/data literacy to develop the whole learner.
Prior to joining Keele, as a Senior Lecturer in Technology Enhanced Learning, Cheryl has led on embedding learning technologies into the curriculum across PGCE Primary, Secondary, and CPD programmes. Cheryl has a wealth of teaching experience having led and taught within programme/module teams across disciplines, including face-to-face, blended, and online modalities. Her teaching is research-informed, adopting a student-centred approach using explorative and collaborative learning methods. Through her own learning on the MA in Online and Distance Education with the Open University, and through participating in, and team-teaching on the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP/FHEA) during her time as an Academic Developer, Cheryl developed a passion for expanding access and opportunity, and over the last eight years has led learning design initiatives for global online programmes across various UK institutions through external partnership provision.
