Russ Crawford, Academic Developer within the Keele Institute for Innovation and Teaching Excellence (KIITE) and colleagues Sarah Aynsley (School of Medicine) and Mark Davys (School of Law) have collectively just published two different papers in a Special Interdisciplinary Teaching and Learning Issue of the Australian Journal of Clinical Education (AJCE).

The first paper is an evaluation of a new communication and listening skills game called Braincept: Oracle, which was developed by Russ and Sarah, and furthers their Braincept gamification work.

The second paper is an Action Research project with a digital scholarship focus, looking at the comparative pros and cons of adopting an e-briefing format to support teachers.

Russ Crawford commented:

“It’s fantastic to get this international recognition for the work that we do here at Keele. It’s atypical to get two different streams of educational research accepted in the same location, but it just goes to show the versatility of gamified learning and action research!”

This special issue of AJCE focused on how legal and health educators (including the Medicine, Health Sciences, Psychology and Nursing disciplines) may work together in interdisciplinary partnerships to enhance teaching and learning environments, and was edited by Caroline Strevens, Head of Portsmouth Law School.

AJCE is an open access double blind peer-reviewed journal devoted to issues of practice and innovation in clinical education across the two disciplines of Law and Health. The journal is administered by the Centre for Professional Legal Education at the Faculty of Law, Bond University.
