Keele University has showcased its new Vision for education - archived 10/10/2023 - WAITING FOR MORE CONTENT, as part of the University's refreshed strategy, in its 70th year.

The new Vision for Education reimagines Lord Lindsay’s original vision from when he founded the University 70 years ago. Following its creation in 2018, the new Vision for Education was showcased at the Keele Learning & Teaching Conference 2019, and is now available online.

Keele was founded as an experiment in university education, and has a long and proud tradition of innovative education, famous for interdisciplinary provision and for ensuring that student learning is relevant to societal challenges.

Our Vision for Education reimagines the original Lindsay experiment for current and future students – who need to flourish in the 4th industrial revolution.

The Vision for Education is grounded in seven Fundamentals, which underpin all educational delivery at Keele. Building on these principles, the Keele Offer and Distinctive Keele Curriculum encapsulate the opportunities, support and programme design features that all students will benefit from during their time at Keele, regardless of the course they are studying. The Keele Difference articulates the positive outcomes that a Keele education delivers - the digital skills, resilience, and commitment to personal development, which ensures our students are successful in the workplace and as citizens.

Professor Helen O’Sullivan, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education at Keele University explains:

“In 1949, Lord Lindsay saw the need for a broad-based liberal arts style education that prepared graduates for the uncertainties of the post war years. 70 years later, and it is clear that our students are facing similar uncertainties. This Vision is a distillation of everything that will help us prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of the 4th Industrial Revolution and beyond. It will enable us to focus on what is important over the next few years as we put into operation our new strategy, Our Future: Purpose, People, Place, Partnership, Performance.”
