Lou Taylor-Murison, Development Manager for Engaged and Experiential Learning within the Keele Institute for Innovation and Teaching Excellence, has recently contributed to the ASET Good Practice Guide to Successful Work Based Learning for Apprenticeships in Higher Education. 

Lou, who is an ASET Trustee and leads the Keele University Apprenticeships portfolio, contributed to the Good Practice Guide in conjunction with experts from across the sector. 

ASET, the Work Based and Placement Learning Association, has been involved in promoting good practice since 1982. ASET’s goal is to advance the prevalence, effectiveness and quality of work based and placement learning in Higher Education. ASET Good Practice Guides are produced in conjunction with experts and organisations in the sector, to ensure that the advice is current, focussed on practitioner needs, and easily accessible.

Lou comments: 

“It was a privilege to be able to contribute to the guide, as I know how much value myself and colleagues have derived from ASET’s existing publications. Apprenticeships have many implementation challenges and hopefully this resource will help colleagues in the sector to navigate some of them.”

The new ASET Good Practice Guide was formally launched at the inaugural Apprenticeships Conference, held at the University of Central Lancashire on Monday 24 June. The conference brought together undergraduate and postgraduate Apprentices, their employers and a range of Apprentice applicants from the Lancashire School of Business and Enterprise. The day focussed on continuing professional development and celebrated the importance of work based learning.
