The Keele Institute for Innovation and Teaching Excellence (KIITE) is delighted to announce that 12 innovative projects have been awarded funding in the 2019/20 Teaching Innovation Projects Scheme (TIPS).

Five of the projects are interdisciplinary and involve members of staff from across the University. There are two projects in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, three in the Faculty of Natural Sciences, one in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and one Directorate project led by the Library. Several of the projects will also involve student collaborators.

TIPS offers colleagues the opportunity to gain funding to develop and evaluate their learning and teaching. Over the past 19 years, TIPS has funded over 160 projects, exploring innovative approaches to learning, teaching and assessment, with many projects leading to further impact and funding bids.

Professor Helen O’Sullivan, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education at Keele University, and Chair of the TIPS panel, commented:

“The TIPS entries this year were outstanding, and I’d like to offer my thanks to everyone who entered - clearly a huge amount of work went in to develop the proposals. There was such a fantastic variety of projects, and I was particularly pleased to see a significant number of interdisciplinary projects from across the University.

“I was also really happy to see students involved in a number of projects, reflecting our commitment to work with students as partners to co-develop and co-design the curriculum.

“The TIPS programme exists to promote experimentation and innovation, which are critical to ensuring our practice enables us to deliver our Vision for Education, and prepare our students to flourish. I’m looking forward to seeing the impact of these innovative projects as they progress.”
