Keele Students to present at national research conference
Four undergraduate students from Keele University have been awarded funding to attend and present their work at the British Conference of Undergraduate Research (BCUR). Thanks to the Keele Key Fund, which is funded by Keele Alumni and friends of the University, the four students will be presenting their work at the national conference this April.
BCUR promotes undergraduate research in all disciplines, and offers students the opportunity to engage in publication, presenting and networking activities; enhancing their transferable skills in these areas. It also allows undergraduate students to establish networks and share their work with the wider sector.
The four students who will be presenting their research at BCUR have all previously taken part in Keele’s JADE Student Learning Undergraduate Conference - hosted by the Institute for Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Keele Institute for Innovation and Teaching Excellence (KIITE). The JADE Student Learning Undergraduate Conference is designed to give undergraduates a platform to not only present at a conference, but to engage in intellectual debate around their disciplines, and have their work published in JADE - the Journal of Academic Development and Education.
Dr Chris Little, Teaching Fellow and Learning Developer within KIITE who coordinates the JADE Student Learning Undergraduate Conference explains:
“This funding will not only offer these students the opportunity to present at a national conference, honing their presentation and research skills, but to also establish networks that will be so beneficial to them as they progress in their careers.
I’m so pleased that, once again, our students will be able to demonstrate the excellent standard of Keele undergraduates to the sector. Providing these sorts of platforms for our students, beyond their traditional timetabled curricula, really demonstrates how research-led teaching can have tangible impacts for students, and we’re committed to helping to create these opportunities for them.”
This year, the JADE Student Learning Undergraduate Conference takes place on 30th May. Find out more about the JSLUG Conference.
BCUR 2019 will be held at the University of South Wales, from 15th-16th April 2019. Students from 60 institutions will be presenting their research, with 600 delegates expected.
