Celebrating Undergraduate Research: Fourth Student Edition of JADE published
The Keele Institute for Innovation and Teaching Excellence (KIITE) is delighted to announce that the fourth issue of the Student Edition of JADE has now been published.
KIITE is proud to sponsor this annual special student edition of The Journal of Academic Development and Education (JADE), which collects the research and reflections from the JADE Student Learning Undergraduate Conference(JSLUG).
The JSLUG Conference, coordinated by the Keele Institute for Liberal Arts and Sciences (ILAS) and KIITE, is an innovative undergraduate research conference that provides Keele students with a unique opportunity to gain first-hand experience of presenting at an academic conference. Students can submit abstracts for a 20-minute oral presentation, a 5-minute lightning talk or a poster presentation.
The annual event, held at Keele Hall, is now in its fourth year. This year, 46 students were accepted to present their work, with over a third going on to submit full-length papers for this edition of JADE.
Dr Chris Little, Learning Developer and Teaching Fellow in KIITE, who convenes the JSLUG Conference each year, comments:
“JSLUG showcases Keele talent and rigor in action and we are extremely proud to host this annual edition of JADE to collect and record their efforts. The students continue to amaze and inspire me in equal measure with their hard work and the immense quality of their presentations.
“JSLUG continues to showcase some of the very best Keele has to offer - interdisciplinary education, variety and range of disciplines and exceptional undergraduates. As the 2019 conference and this edition of JADE show, the appetite for undergraduate research avenues at Keele is continually growing, and I shall be working over the next 12 months, and beyond, to bring even more of these opportunities to our wonderful students.”
With the publication of this fourth issue of JADE, a total of 143 abstracts, 58 academic posters and 50 full-length student papers have been published. Across the past four years, funding has also been secured for two students to present at the inaugural World Congress of Undergraduate Research in 2016, and a further five students to present at the 2018 and 2019 British Conferences of Undergraduate Research.
The 2020 JSLUG conference will take place on 1st June 2020. To find out more, visit the Conference website.
