Biography
Mario is Senior Lecturer and Programme Director of the LLM in International Law at the Keele Law School. He obtained his first degree and LLM from the Sorbonne Law School (Université Paris 1), and his PhD from McGill University, where he was a Liberatore Major Fellow. His PhD dissertation on the fragmentation of international law was awarded the Association of Quebec Law Professors annual prize for best doctoral thesis (2009).
Mario is a former Board member of the European Society of International Law, and a founding member of its interest group on international environmental law.
Research and scholarship
As well as his ongoing work on various aspects of international legal theory, Mario's current research focuses on the colonial history of (international) environmental law and critical approaches to transnational arbitration (with special emphasis on investor-state arbitration).
