Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)
The Language Centre offers the Trinity College (London) certificate in TESOL to Keele students as part of the elective choices. This is one of the most widely recognised initial TESOL qualifications and is accepted by the British Council and also by schools and employers worldwide.
Gaining the Trinity CertTESOL is like having a passport to work and travel almost anywhere in the world. Recruiters worldwide often request either this qualification or its Cambridge equivalent (CELTA) as a minimum. Summer schools in the UK provide seasonal work and usually pay premium rates for a teacher with a Trinity CertTESOL.
What will you do when you graduate? What will you do during the summer?
- Does working in a creative, rewarding environment appeal to you?
- Would you like to gain a professional teaching qualification?
- Would you like to develop skills that you can use in any career?
- Does developing skills, which enhance your c.v. and give you an edge in the jobs market, appeal to you?
You will take one module per year for three years to reach the level required by Trinity College (London) to apply for moderation. If taken as undergraduate options there is no additional charge for tuition, just the Trinity College moderation fee (approximately £175) to pay at the end of module 3. Trainees will have the opportunity to carry out teaching practicals in sessions for overseas students at Keele University or refugees and asylum seekers at a local charity. There may also be the chance for you to visit one of our partner universities to carry out some of your teaching practice overseas.
