Library resource spotlight: Veterinary Medicine
It’s National Pet Month (1st April-1st May) in the UK and to celebrate we’re showcasing our Veterinary Medicine resources!
National Pet Month is all about celebrating and raising awareness of responsible pet ownership across the UK and this year’s theme is focusing on the positive effects of pets on our mental and physical health, which is vitally important during these challenging times. This year’s campaign is also highlighting the incredible work of veterinary teams across the UK - #vetpawsitivity – which includes our Veterinary Medicine and Surgery students as well as the team at Garden Vets at Keele!
Our Veterinary Medicine subject resources page comprises of key recommendations, from our subject liaison librarian, across a vast range of resources including databases, eBooks, help and guidance, and useful links!
Some of the key recommendations are the BSAVA Library which is the home of the BSAVA’s publications, including articles, lectures and educational items, covering the whole spectrum of small animal veterinary practice and the British Pharmacopoeia which is the official and authoritative collection of standards for UK medicinal substances for human and veterinary use. VLeBooks is also a key recommendation for eBooks as our core collections have many titles relevant for veterinary medicine, plus further key recommendations include the leading Nature and Science journals too. You can also access quality reference management tools provided by the library, in addition to the Keele Research Repository which is a digital archive of research and enterprise output produced by Keele University staff.
The Veterinary Medicine subject resources page doesn’t stop there! You can also access the online reading lists for the Harper and Keele Veterinary School as well as guides and tutorials to help you get started in using the library.
There’s also links to our ‘...In a Nutshell’ training sessions, academic skills, and the contact information for the liaison librarian for veterinary medicine can also be found on the page should you like more in-depth help.
So happy National Pet Month and check-out our Veterinary Medicine subject resources page for our key recommendations and don’t forget to check out the A-Z of online resources too!
