Welcome to your Library: reference management
A warm welcome to our new and returning students to the 2024/2025 academic year!
As you know, reference management is a vital part of your studies whilst at Keele University and can be a tricky skill to get accustomed to – but fret not, as your library is here to help!
We subscribe to Cite Them Right and RefWorks which are both tools that can help you to construct and manage your references.
Cite Them Right lets you practice formatting references in the major styles, such as Harvard, APA and Vancouver (but remember to check which style is appropriate for your subject area!). You can even find out why referencing is so important by completing the referencing tutorial – you get a nice certificate at the end! The library also runs training workshops on using Cite Them Right.
RefWorks is ideal for organising your references into folders and you can export multiple references from all the library databases then create a quick list of references in minutes. Our Getting Started with RefWorks Sway provides step-by-step guidance for first-time users.
Further help can be found by using our online manage your references... in a Nutshell module as well as our referencing and paraphrasing sources study guide.
And as always, don’t forget that you can contact the Academic and Digital Skills team as well as your subject Liaison Librarian for help and support!
