Green Libraries Week 2024
Green Libraries Week, which is organised by the Library and Information Association, runs from 7th-13th October 2024 and celebrates libraries across the UK with a focus on the climate, sustainability and green action within their communities!
As you may know, Keele has been recognised as a leader in sustainability through several awards and accreditations, including a Green Energy Award 2023 for our groundbreaking Smart Energy Network Demonstrator (SEND) and Low Carbon Energy Generation Park, the Global Sustainability Institution of the Year at the 2021 International Green Gown Awards, the re-accreditation of the Students Union in 2021 under the NUS Green Impact Scheme with an ‘Excellent’ rating, and our current position of 59th with a class rating of 2:1 in the People’s and Planet’s University League!
To get in the mood of Green Libraries Week, we’re introducing a few of our ‘green’ resources, which includes the EBSO: Earth/Environment databases, the ProQuest: Science and Technology databases that allows you to cross-search a variety of databases including GeoRef and Atmospheric Science Collection, and the Environmental Science Collection that combines specialist topic resources from disciplines and features a diverse range of full-text sources!
There’s also GreenFILE, which is a research database that provides scholarly, government and general-interest sources covering the environmental effects of individuals, corporations and governments, and the Issues in Environmental Science and Technology e-book Collection which is a series that tackles the important environmental topics!
All our resources are also available on the library’s A-Z of online resources and for access to our resources, you may need to login with your Keele username and password.
To get involved in Green Libraries Week, find out what’s on and dig deeper into Keele’s role in sustainability education and outreach!
