Library resource spotlight: BNF and BNF for Children App
Introducing the BNF and BNF for Children mobile app!
The BNF, short for British National Formulary, is an integral part of the UK’s healthcare infrastructure that is relied on by health professionals who prescribe, dispense and administer medicines globally, as it is the only drug formulary in the world that is both independent with accredited content creation processes!
The formulary helps to support confident decision-making at the point of care by offering concise guidance, authoritative evidence-graded information and expert recommendations.
The BNF and BNF for Children mobile app is a multi-award-winning app which provides access to the latest and essential drug information quickly, offline and on-the-go. The app makes it quick and easy to access practical, evidence-based medicines information whenever and wherever you need it and is available on both iOS and Android. The great news is that all current Keele staff and students can use the app under our MedicinesComplete licence!
The app, which is fully functional both online and offline, allows you to easily switch between BNF and BNF for Children using coloured-coded navigation tools and monthly updates ensure access to the latest clinical information, whilst the interaction checker tool helps you to learn which drug combinations to avoid.
You can search or browse the app to find information about drugs and the management of common medical conditions as well as use the favourites feature to bookmark monographs, treatment summaries and other records!
For access, download the BNF app on your iOS or Android device, and select ‘Register/Log in’. The first time you access the app, you will need to ‘create an account’ and you must register for an account using your Keele email address. There’s also a handy video library for further help too!
Please note, the NICE BNF website does not permit educational use.
