Biography

I graduated from Keele with a First Class Honours degree in Geology, during this time I became extremely interested in large scale geodynamics and geological modelling of many different aspects of geology. After taking a year out I am know back and undertaking an MPhil in Earth Sciences under the supervision of Dr Stuart Egan and Dr Stuart Clarke as part of the Basin Dynamics Research Group studying 3D Thermal Modelling focusing on the Cheshire Basin as an area of study.

Title: 3D Thermal modelling of the Cheshire Basin: Implications for Geothermal Energy Exploration.

Geothermal energy is a fast growing area of interest and research with the need for new and renewable energy sources increasing, 3D thermal modelling provides an insight into a reservoir and their geothermal potential. The Cheshire Basin being an example of a Permo-Triassic basin filled with aeolian and fluvial sedimentary rocks makes it a perfect candidate for 3D thermal modelling to gain further understanding of the thermal properties of the basin to potentially start geothermal energy exploration.

This work will be carried out through modelling on MATLAB and coding 2D thermal models which will be enhanced into 3D thermal models using different physical parameters of the rocks within the Cheshire Basin.
