Biography
Hiyam joined Keele University in July 2023. Dr. Al-Jabr is interested in research that is focused on providing an integrated patient-centred care and raising patients’ voice to be heard and taken into account. She believes that this approach would help achieving several outcomes of therapy, not only for people receiving healthcare services, but also for healthcare providers.
Prior to this, Hiyam worked as a research associate at the University of Suffolk, and as a project coordinator and senior research associate at the Pharmacy Practice team at the University of East Anglia (UEA). Hiyam holds a PhD in pharmacy practice from UEA in 2020. Whilst doing her PhD, Hiyam worked as a part time Associate Tutor in pharmacy practice and research associated in the School of Pharmacy. Hiyam’s work involved using both qualitative and quantitative research methods in collecting and analysing data. Dr Al-Jabr has been involved in running trials to support people with type 2 diabetes and to support people with long COVID. Hiyam is now a research fellow in epidemiology at Keele University.
