Biography
Melanie Holden is a Chartered Physiotherapist with extensive of experience of applied health research. She joined the School of Medicine at Keele University in 2005, progressing to become a Professor of Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation in January 2023. Her current research focus is optimising the management of musculoskeletal pain (including osteoarthritis) through rehabilitation (non-drug, non-surgical treatments). The overall goal of her portfolio is high-quality, innovative research that positively impacts on health and care provision, and benefits patients. Professor Holden has expertise in several applied research methods including systematic reviews, meta-analyses, cross-sectional surveys, qualitative methods, consensus methods, patient reported outcome measures, intervention development, and randomised controlled trials (RCTs). Patient and public involvement underpins all stages of her research.
