Immunisations and screening
The OHS provides appropriate immunisations and health checks on staff and students who are at particular risk of blood borne viruses as a result of their work. Programs of appropriate immunisations and blood tests will be provided for Nursing and Midwifery, Medical and Physiotherapy students when they commence at Keele. The OHS will ensure compliance with DOH screening requirements for health care workers, and the infection control requirements of the NHS Trusts where students are placed.
All students will be issued with certificates detailing their immunisation status which they keep available for all clinical placement providers. Once the certificate has been issued students will be responsible for providing these details to placement providers or employers. Copies can be issued by OHS, but a charge will be made.
If a copy of immunisation details is required students must write to OHS giving details of name, address, date of birth, which course studied, when started at Keele, and where the copies should be sent or when it is required for pick up from OHS. Alternatively you can print off the consent form and send this to OHS. It takes approx 5 working days to process immunisation details.
