'So You Want To Be A Doctor?' Day
Keele University School of Medicine will be hosting its eleventh "So You Want To Be A Doctor?" careers day at Keele on 12 March 2014.
The packed programme will include sessions on "Why Choose a Career in Medicine?", "Entry Requirements and the Interview" and “From student to doctor”. In the afternoon there will be interactive sessions including laboratory workshops and an Admissions Question and Answer workshop.
Speakers will include Professor Peter Dangerfield of Liverpool University, Professor Terence Wardle from Liverpool University, Mr Robert Kirby, Consultant Surgeon & Hospital Dean at Keele, Professor Andrew Hassell, Director of Undergraduate Programmes at Keele and foundation year doctor, Asma Akhtar.
The Careers Day is for pupils from years 10–12 who would like to find out more about a career in medicine. The cost is £25 per pupil, including packed lunch, refreshments and conference materials. All bookings must be on the booking form, schools may bring a maximum of 12 pupils. The booking form and programme will be available on the website.

There are 250 places available and as this is a very popular event early booking is essential.
Feedback from last year’s event excellent, with many pupils commenting that it really helped them decide whether or not they wanted to be a doctor.
This careers day is specifically for people interested in training to become a doctor. Unfortunately, time constraints on the day mean that we cannot include information about careers in other areas of healthcare.
