Keele invites high school and sixth form pupils to experience campus life
Keele University is inviting students to enjoy a taste of campus life this June and July, to experience what’s it’s like to study a subject and live in university halls.
The Real Keele residential is a two-day taster event for students in years 10 to 12, giving young people a real experience of student life at university before they apply.
The annual event, previously known as Uniskills, includes a one-night stay at Keele University to see what it’s like to live in student accommodation on what is the largest university campus in the UK.
The two days will also include taster sessions in various subject areas, which will be delivered by Keele University staff.
Dr Andy Zieleniec, Programme Director for Liberal Arts, said: "This is a great event offering young people a chance to experience university life and find out what it's really like to learn at a university level.
"This is a great opportunity to come along and meet some of our academic staff, find out more about the Liberal Arts and other degree programmes we offer, as well as get to know Keele campus."
It’s also an opportunity for young people to speak to current Keele students and find out more about their experiences of what it’s like to study at university.
A student who attended last year’s event said: “I had a great time and it really brought me out of my shell. I learnt a lot from this experience and I am more confident about decisions to make in the future. It was the best trip ever.”
The Real Keele programme takes place from June 27th to 28th for those currently in years 10 to 11, and from July 4th to 5th for those in year 12.
In the evening there will be entertainment in the Student’s Union including a DJ, bucking bronco and fairground stalls.
Funding is available for eligible students to cover the £40 cost, which includes all accommodation and meals.
